one in this two part webinar will provide a summary of the history and
principles of the Hague Treaty; focus on how implementation in the US
helps to ensure transparency, accountability, consistency, and ethical
practices in Hague inter-country adoption cases; describe the
accreditation/approval process, monitoring and oversight activities;
and discuss the number of Hague visas issued, the Adoption Tracking
Service, the Hague Complaint Registry and opportunities for and
benefits of communication and collaboration among federal authorities,
state licensing, and accrediting entities.

The Hague Convention on Inter-country Adoption Part II: Implications
for State Licensing

The Hague Convention is raising the bar for many US
providers, and states are beginning to revise their adoption licensing
regulations to be consistent with federal requirements. Current state
regulatory requirements will be explored and states’ regulations will
be compared to Hague standards to identify potential regulatory
revisions to promote consistency with federal regulations in the areas
of ethical practices, complaints, interagency collaboration, home
studies, staffing, post-placement and post-adoption services and
outgoing cases.
