2009 Licensing Seminar (Postponed until 2010)
November 15, 2010 through November 17, 2010
The economy and restrictions on out of state/province travel have forced NARA to make a difficult and unprecedented decision. We are postponing the 2009 Licensing Seminar that was being planned for Cincinnati on October 19th - 21st.
While we are disappointed that the program we had been planning won't be available this Fall, we will be asking several of the presenters who were targeted for the program to work with NARA on producing a series of Webinars. It's our hope and intent that the Webinars will provide opportunities for training that many states and provinces have learned to expect from NARA, without the need for travel.
Arrangements are under way to hold the NARA Licensing Seminar in Cincinnati in November 2010. More details to come!

History of the NARA Annual Licensing Seminar
The NARA Annual Licensing Seminar brings together hundreds of professionals who provide regulatory oversight to programs that care for children and vulnerable adults. These programs typically include:
-
Child Care
-
Assisted Living/Personal Care
-
Group Homes for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
-
Drug & Alcohol Treatment
-
Foster Care
-
Adoption and Child Placing Agencies, and more |
|
The purpose of the Seminar is to provide an opportunity for licensing professionals to enhance their skills and to network with other professionals in human care regulation. Education is a cornerstone of the NARA mission, and the Licensing Seminar has been an effective strategy for providing education to the greatest number of professionals on a variety of regulatory topics.

If your state or region is interested in hosting the Seminar, please contact Jodie Markey, Executive Administrator for NARA: jodiemarkey@naralicensing.org.
With restrictions on out-of-state travel, hosting the Seminar in your state is a great solution!

The keynote address at the Welcome Session was presented by P.K. Beville of Second Wind Dreams. P.K. helped us understand that our older parents and friends need an environment filled with love and fun. At the seminar’s closing, we thoroughly enjoyed Holly Bruno’s meaningful and interactive session: “Partnering with Change.” Falling between these two special speakers were over 50 workshops chocked full of valuable information and opportunities for networking with colleagues from across the US, Canada, and the UK. |

“This was the best program that NARA has ever provided. I had difficult (in a good way) decisions in every session. So many great options.” is the way one attendee summed up the 2008 educational program.
